Step 1: Enable IMAP from Gmail settings
- Login to your Gmail account using your login ID and Password.
- Now click on Gear icon and open Gmail settings as shown below
- From here, choose Forwarding and POP/IMAP and enable IMAP settings.
Step 2: Allow Less Security Apps in Gmail
- Open the link in your browse: https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps
- Now Turn on Less Security Apps by clicking on it.
Step 3: Configure Gmail Account in Outlook using IMAP Settings
- Open your Outlook >> Click on File >> Info >> Add Account.
- Now Select Manual setup or additional server types >> Click on Next
- In the next window, select POP or IMAP option >> Click on Next button.
- Now enter the Server details as given below:
- Select IMAP as Account Type.
- Incoming Mail Server – imap.gmail.com
- Outgoing Mail Server – smtp.gmail.com
- Enter your Login information and click on More Settings

- Choose Outgoing Server from the next window and then select the checkbox for My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Choose the Radio button Use same settings as my incoming mail server >> Click on OK button.

- Now Click on Advanced tab and enter the following Details:
- Incoming Server: 143 or 993
- Choose SSL from the option Use the following type of encrypted connection.
- Outgoing Server: 587 or 465.
- Choose TLS or Auto from the option Use the following type of encrypted connection
- Click on OK button and you are done with the settings.

- Now click on Next button and if you have entered all the details correctly then your account will be configured in the Outlook email client.
